The nearly two-year construction period underscores the long-term planning of the project. The result is a powerful system that enables the company to meet nearly all of its daytime electricity needs for production machinery through solar energy, under favorable weather conditions. This additional capacity not only further covers the company's own energy needs but also reduces dependence on external power sources. Consequently, CO₂ emissions are significantly lowered, supporting the company in making its production even more environmentally friendly. Additionally, eight new parking spaces have been created, specifically designated for employees with electric vehicles—further contributing to sustainable mobility within the company.
The project was made possible through a public-private partnership with the Stadtwerke Wesel: The municipal utility invested in the system, and Tretford leases it for 18 years at a fixed price. This long-term and reliable partnership provides both parties with planning security and underscores their joint commitment to the energy transition.
