DIPF has been located at the Westend Campus of Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, since the end of 2018. The new modern bilding has been fully designed to meet the institute's needs and has a surface area of approx 7800 m2. The building includes a laboratory complex with experimental rooms for children, a library for educational researchers, teachers and teachers in training, a large conference area and a day nursery, that are jointly used by DIPF and the Senckenberg Institute for Nature Research. A high foyer and a luminous hall for the library give the building its structure. The tower, which protrudes seven stories above the base, contains additional office space.

tretford carpet made of Cashmere goat hair was installed in almost 1200 m2 of the building. A warm orange was selected from the elaborate colour palette as the main carpet colour. This breaks up the bright, white atmosphere. Moreover, the tretford carpet's striking ridged structure perfectly offsets the building's linear characteristics. tretford carpet made of Cashmere goat hair has been used in various areas, such as the library. It absorbs contact noise and thus creates more calm and quiet.
